Femoral sheath

  • Femoral sheath: funnel-shaped fascial sheath enclosing the upper 3.75 cm of the femoral vessels.
  • Base directed upward toward the abdominal cavity; apex fuses with the tunica adventitia of the femoral vessels.

Formation

  • Anterior wall: downward prolongation of the fascia transversalis.
  • Posterior wall: downward prolongation of the fascia iliaca.
