Internal capsule: parts, relations, fibres and clinical lesions

Internal capsule: compact band of projection fibres connecting cerebral cortex to brainstem and spinal cord, continuous with corona radiata above and crus cerebri of midbrain below.
Lies between thalamus and caudate nucleus medially, lentiform nucleus laterally; carries ascending (sensory) and descending (motor) fibres for the opposite body half.
