Pulmonary ligament

  • Pulmonary ligament: fold of pleura extending from the root of the lung down to the diaphragm, between the lung and the mediastinum.

Extent and Formation

  • Formed where the pleural sleeve around the root of the lung, comparable to the cuff of a jacket around the wrist, continues down as this fold.
  • Filled with loose areolar tissue and contains few lymphatics.
